“Dear Bishops, Monsignors, Fathers, and Deacons:
As we draw near to the most sacred days of the Church’s year, I wanted to share with you the April edition of our Archdiocesan Liturgical Magazine. I invite you to take a few moments before Holy Week to read through the latest issue — you’ll find thoughtful reflections, clear liturgical guidance, and helpful reminders as we prepare our parishes and communities for the Triduum and Easter celebrations.
This month’s highlights include:
- “From Memory to Mystery” – A historical and theological overview of Holy Week, tracing its ancient origins from the early Church to today.
- Holy Week Preparation Checklist – Practical and pastoral notes on the washing of feet, the altar of repose, confession times, and more.
- Clarifications on the Use of the Paschal Candle – Including important reminders on the use of wax and the blessing of a single candle.
- Sacred Oils and Display Norms – What we receive at the Chrism Mass is what we use, not what we place in decorative vessels.
- The Easter Vigil & Sacramental Norms – A timely reminder that the Vigil is reserved for catechumens in our Archdiocese.
- Incensation, Gospel Processions, and the Role of Deacons – A clear guide to ceremonial questions we often encounter during solemn liturgies.
Please feel free to share this issue with your liturgy teams and staff. As always, I welcome your feedback, questions, or suggestions for future editions.
May your celebration of the Paschal Mystery be prayerful, powerful, and beautifully executed. Wishing you all a blessed Holy Week and a joyful Easter! See you at the Chrism mass.”

“Dear Brothers,
Attached is the May edition of our liturgical newsletter.
This month’s issue stands at a historic crossroads with the death of Pope Francis and the beginning of the conclave. The lead article, The Conclave and the Liturgy: Sacred Ritual in the Sistine Chapel, reflects on the deeply liturgical nature of the conclave and how sacred art, architecture, and ritual elevate the act of discernment into an act of worship.
Also included in this issue are several pastoral and practical articles intended to support your ministry:
- Guidelines for Communion Services
- The Importance of Saying the Gloria
- Dressing for the Lord
- Safeguarding the Eucharist
- When to Make Announcements at Mass
- Preaching and the Role of Deacons
- Liturgical Gestures During the Our Father
I hope these reflections can be a helpful resource in your pastoral work and liturgical leadership. As always, my intention is not only to provide clarity, but to promote deeper reverence for the sacred liturgy we are privileged to celebrate each day.
Know of my continued prayers for you and your ministry—especially in these days of transition for the Universal Church.”
