SOCIAL JUSTICE
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

"To whom much is given, much will be expected."

 

St. Augustine's offers opportunities for service through various projects:

§         Habitat for Humanity:  Meet at St. A's the 4th Saturday of the month.  Go to various areas in Miami to build homes for low -income families.  Approximate time is 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Feeding the Homeless - Meet at St. A's on Wednesday night to make sandwiches.  Meet at St. A's on Thursday night to distribute sandwiches in downtown Miami.  Approximate time on Thursdays is 7 - 10:30 PM. Contact Jim Sullivan for more information at (305) 270-0742.

§         If  you would like to be a Lector or Eucharistic minister for the 8PM Mass- please call Fr. Kirlin at 305 –661-1648 to make a 15 minute appointment with him.

§         If you would like to be an usher/help with collections during the 8PM Mass please email Henry Sanchez at :  Hsanchez@carnival.com

Mission to Haiti - Mission trip to Haiti in the Spring, Contact Deacon Victor Pimentel in the parish.

 

§         Life March - If you are interested in attending the Walk for Life March, this January in Washington D.C., Contact Adam McMahon at the parish.

§          Visit Abused Kids - If you are interested in visiting abused children to play with them and love them, contact:Joanna at Wisodan12@aol.com or
Adam at the parish. 

§         Fun day- party at UM for handicapped Children

                                                             

§         Visit Elderly - If you would like to visit the elderly at a nearby home with the Eucharist and with your loving presence, contact Adam at the parish. VDenis@juno.com

 §         Music Ministry - If you would like to take part in the choir for the 8PM Campus Ministry Mass or you play a musical instrument, contact Kathleen Bell at Ext. 15.

                              

§         Respect Life - If you would like to help at the Sunset office Crisis Pregnancy Center or want to run a baby shower to collect baby items for expectant mothers, or are interested in helping with any "life" related issue, contact Betty Gonzalez at (305) 663-1337.

 §         Retreat - If you are interested in attending a college and university-age retreat, contact Adam at the parish.

 

§          St. Vincent de Paul - If you would like to volunteer working at a nearby thrift shop for people in need, call the parish and leave a message for Silvia Diaz or Joe Corral at (305)608-5760

§         World Youth Day - If you are interested in visiting the Holy Father in Germany the Summer of 2005 - along with thousands of other youth from all over the world, Contact Adam at the parish.
